Debbie Atkins

Debbie promotes a holistic approach to toilet training that is individualised to support the child’s developing competence and positive sense of self.

Collaborative approaches with the active involvement of parents, other care-providers and educators are highly valued for creating positive routines and consistent learning opportunities to help children learn to use the toilet.

Debbie is a registered Occupational Therapist with:
  • The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Medicare as an Allied Health Professional provider

Debbie Atkins is an Australian Occupational Therapist with over 20 years experience working with children and families in community based paediatric services.

During this time, Debbie has developed expertise in the continence field with the development of clinical support services, toilet training resources and parent / carer education programs, particularly for the families of children and young people with disabilities.

Debbie has played an active role with the development of comprehensive training for allied health professionals and educators. In addition, she has made many contributions to public awareness campaigns about toilet training for children.
